Located southwest of downtown, Calhoun Isles is the vibrant home to Uptown, a trendy area with a variety of unique shops and restaurants ranging from authentic Thai to classic American. The Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue intersection forms the hub of Uptown where retail shops abound. Living in a strong and diversified commercial area, Uptown residents naturally feel a part of the urban mix, strolling the sidewalks with a latte at-hand.

This urban business setting is softened by nearby houses, apartment buildings and parks. Dog-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike find this an ideal location as it gives them the freedom to take advantage of the lakes, parks, and trails. Living in this area gives you Bryant Square Park, Lake Calhoun, Kenwood Park, and the Greenway Bike Trail, all which provide a place to be just as close to nature as you are to some late-night sushi.

This area is home to the annual Uptown Art Fair that attracts hundreds of artists from around the nation and sells over $2.5 million of art during the festival. The Art Fair Sourcebook listed the 2007 Festival as 8th in the nation, and the Harris Guide ranked it as the #1 Art Fair in Minnesota. Uptown also includes the Kenwood neighborhood located between Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake.

The city's well-known dining district known as 'Eat Street' runs through Uptown. Thick with ethnic restaurants and grocery stores, this area energizes the Minneapolis dining scene and is ideal for adventurous eaters. Barbette, Lucia's, Chino Latino, and Harry Singh's are a few among Uptown's many praised restaurants.
